Bridgend Council launches pop-up space in Maesteg Market

Thursday 24 April 2025

Bridgend County Borough Council’s Economic Development & Enterprise team has announced the launch of a brand-new initiative to support local start-ups, creatives, and community groups in the heart of Maesteg.

The initiative, called “For a Limited Time Only…?”, offers short-term access to Unit 14 in Maesteg Market, providing a low-risk, high-visibility space for individuals and organisations to test ideas, showcase products, or connect with customers — all for a limited time and at no cost to the occupier.

The project is aimed at local traders, makers, small businesses, social enterprises, and artists and creatives from across Bridgend County Borough who are looking for an opportunity to step into a public-facing space.

Councillor Neelo Farr, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Economic Development and Housing said “Maesteg Market has been a long-standing hub of creative communities, and this initiative breathes new life into that tradition. By offering this pop-up space, where creativity and entrepreneurship can flourish without financial barriers, we are not only supporting our local talent but also enriching the cultural and economic fabric of our town.”

“I am looking forward to seeing the innovative ideas that will come to life from Maesteg businesses in this exciting environment.”

Expressions of Interest are now open, and the Council is inviting individuals and groups to come forward and tell them how they’d like to use the space by completing this short expression of interest form.

The pop-up will open to the public on Monday 12 May and will run for a period of six months. Whether it’s for one day or one week, each pop-up will bring something new to the market — adding vibrancy to the town centre and helping to support the local economy.

This project is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
