A local sewing shop in Bridgend has won Sew Magazine’s Best Independent Sewing Shop award for the second year in a row.
Pink Scissors Fabric, who are based in Coity Road, have been running since 2014. Shop owner Suzanne Whelan began the business because of her passion for fabrics and sewing, bringing her hobby of different and quirky fabrics with beautiful rich prints to Bridgend County Borough.
Pink Scissors Fabric also support Project Linus Bridgend by donating surplus fabric and space in the shop for training. Project Linus helps to make quilts for traumatised children and young adults. The shop was given a National Lottery plaque in March 2022 for their support.
On winning the Sew Magazine award again, Suzanne said, “Being awarded Best Independent Sewing Shop in Wales for the second year running by Sew Magazine is fantastic for a small business in Bridgend. When my children were small, I really enjoyed making clothes for them and it was out of this passion that I grew Pink Scissors Fabric. The award was voted for by Sew Magazine readers and is a national award, so I was up against some of the big boys. I have my loyal customers and teachers to thank for winning this award!”
Bridgend Business Forum would like to congratulate Suzanne on winning this award for the second year in a row!
