Triple Award Success for Best Western Heronston Hotel and Spa

Best Western Heronston Hotel and Spa in Bridgend is celebrating triple award success after their team won three awards at recent ceremonies.

The team at Stepping Stone Spa was awarded both ‘Luxury Spa of the Year’ and ‘Spa Team of the Year’ at the Creative Oceanic Welsh Beauty Industry Awards on Sunday 21 January.

The hotel’s Head Chef, Angharad Rockall, won a Bronze Medal in the National Chef of Wales 2024 Welsh International Culinary Championships on Wednesday 24 January.

The awards follow on from the hotel’s recent refurbishment and the Stepping Stone Spa team winning the ‘Spa of the Year Award’ at the Creative Oceanic Welsh Beauty Industry Awards in 2022.

Carolyn Powell Hotel General Manager said “Our Stepping Stone Spa won ‘Spa of the Year’ at the Welsh Hair and Beauty Awards 2022 and was a finalist in 2023, so to follow this up with two further awards was an amazing achievement. We were up against some well-established luxury spas and were delighted to come out on top again.”

“We were thrilled when Angharad reached the finals of National Chef of Wales 2024 and went to support her and Mikolaj, her commis chef, when they competed at the International Convention Centre Wales. She really put the hotel’s name on the culinary map of Wales competing against the country’s top chefs from renowned establishments.”

“She designed and prepared a three-course menu to be cooked within 4 hours containing Welsh PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) products. We were so proud of her when we learned that she had achieved a Bronze Medal as it was the first time she had entered such a prestigious competition. There will be many people who now know the name of our hotel as a result.”
